Oh, the fishermen were washing their nets,
Peter and Andrew were washing their nets,
And James and John were washing their nets
When Jesus came to them.
Jesus said to them, "Could I borrow a boat?
The crowd is large and if I could float
Aways out on the sea, I could talk to them.
And they all could hear and see."
When he finished speaking, the crowd went away
He said to the fishermen, "It's still day.
Get back into your boats and cast your nets.
You'll find you have a catch."
Peter could not restrain a shout.
"Lord, do you know what you're talking about?
We've been fishing all night with nothing to show,
But we'll try if you say so."
So they got into their boats to try for a catch;
The fish were so heavy they were breaking their nets.
Peter cried, "Lord, leave us as fast as You can,
For I am a sinful man."
"Don't be afraid; I have a job for you.
It's not what you're used to, something new.
You're to follow me; I'll show you where and when,
And I'll make you fishers of men.
So they left their boats and they followed their Lord,
Living and preaching His Holy Word,
And the world was changed by the power of God
Everywhere they trod.
So you say you're discouraged, looking for something new.
Well, if you'll be patient with your due,
Some day when you're faithfully washing your nets
Jesus Christ will come to you.
Oh, the fishermen were washing their nets;
Peter and Andrew were washing their nets;
And James and John were washing their nets
When Jesus came to them.
